2008 Habitat for Humanity Homebuilders Blitz

During the week of June 2-6, 2008 WS Homes joined other local professional homebuilders from the Bloomington area to build 5 homes in just five days. As part of a 500-home nationwide blitz build, we had over 120 local companies donate time and/or money to build 5 homes (collectively valued at half a million dollars) in 5 days for 5 local families in desperate need of quality housing.

WS Homes is proud to be the sole builder of a home for Jorge Gaitan, Minerva Sosa, and their family of three children. Jorge works at Schulte and Minerva at home. The Gaitan-Sosa family chose kid-friendly Bloomington as their new hometown when they immigrated from Mexico in 2000. Jorge and Minerva are hard at work earning “sweat equity” hours by learning building skills and working at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore.

WS Homes put together a team of skilled craftspeople and suppliers to build the Gaitan-Sosa family’s new home in Broadview. While the home was built in just five days (and in the midst of flash flooding!), it’s imbued with the quality and attention to detail that distinguishes WS Homes.
